Seattle Jewish Film Festival – Closing Night – Film: Baba Joon

SJFF concludes with Israel’s submission to the Oscars – film: Baba Joon – in 1980’s Israel three generations of stubborn Persian-Jewish immigrants struggle to manage their family’s ramshackle turkey farm in the Negev Desert in this coming-of-age, father-son drama. Short: in 2003 American soldiers entered Saddam Hussein’s headquarters and found thousands of Jewish documents and artifacts, rescuing them to be restored in the US. Featured guest: Actor Navid Negahban (HBO’s Homeland) followed by a “drink up the culture” farewell toast.
