Seattle Public Library; University Branch – African American Film Series: “Thomasine & Bushrod”
A unique entry in the blaxploitation genre of the 1970s, the western “Thomasine & Bushrod” follows the titular couple, a bounty hunter and wanted man, as they rob the rich to the benefit the downtrodden. The film was directed by Gordon Parks, Jr. (most well-known for “Superfly”) and was written by star Max Julien. Featuring a magnificent performance by Vonetta McGee as Thomasine. Rating PG – Parental Guidance Suggested
