Beacon Hill Boys Film Screening & Reception
September 19, 2015 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Beacon Hill Boys began as a film released in 1985 jointly created by Ken Mochizuki, William Satake Baluvelt, and Dean Hayasaka.
The film follows Dan Inagaki as he hangs out with his friends as they cruise through life after high school with adulthood looming closer than anyone liked. The nighttime streets of Beacon Hill, Rainier Valley, and the Chinatown-International District of the early 1970s are captured in this film with more than a few landmarks lost to time.
Please join all three filmmakers as we celebrate the film’s 30 anniversary and revisit the story, the actors and look back at how life was as a Beacon Hill Boy, and to look at what’s happened since those cruising days.
- Tickets: $15 suggested donation – film screening followed by a panel and reception
- Seating is limited. Please RSVP with Visitor Services at 206.623.5124
Beacon Hill Boys is also a well known young adult novel released by Ken Mochizuki in 2002 by Scholastic Press. The novel, set in and around Seattle’s Beacon Hill neighborhood, follows the lives of Asian American teenagers in the late 1960s.
