Danish Oregon Book Club: Virtual Meeting

February 17, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Our Danish Book Club in Oregon is meeting online for their next book discussion. This virtual format opens the book club to participants near and far – all are welcome to join. The book that will be discussed (in Danish) is Løvinden – Karen Blixen i Afrika , a biography about Karen Blixen
by Tom Buk-Swienty.

It is a new portrait of Karen Blixen, the world-famous Danish author who lived in Kenya for 17 years. In Africa, they called her “The Lioness”. She arrived on the continent in January 1914 full of dreams of a new and free life, but left in 1931 after having lost the large coffee farm, “Karen Coffee Company”. Join the Facebook event for this book discussion to connect with other attendees.

Oregon’s Danish book club has been active since the 1990s. The book club is for advanced Danish speakers, as the books and the discussions are both in Danish.
