As winter and difficult times continue, we invite you to listen to poems and words that remind us of the power of love, the beauty around us and the peace we all long for.
If you wish to share a poem or poetic thoughts on love, beauty or peace, we invite you and your youth to submit the title of an original poem or a poem you cherish from your heritage. There is a place on the RSVP form to provide name of poem and author. Questions? Write to rosanneroyer@comcast.net

At the August 23rd Roundtable we met Julianna Ross and Mark Patterson of SPACE 101.1 FM for a virtual look at the community radio station located in Building 138 (the Gatehouse) at Magnuson Park www.space101fm.org
On October 11th, Mark will take the first hour to present low-cost options for creating radio programs and some of the technical considerations. EHC’s Roundtable Program Committee will then describe EHC’s ideas for an EHC Radio Hour that can feature segments from you! |

Join us for a brief EHC Annual Meeting
We invite you to remain for a half-hour at the end of this program to participate in a brief Annual Business Meeting, required of non-profit organizations. It was postponed twice and we will appreciate your helping us fulfill this requirement. We’ll ask you to approve our slate of EHC Board Nominees and give a brief financial report and a look into the future. |

Our Seattle professional sports teams—Sounders FC, Seahawks, Seattle Storm, Seattle Mariners, OL Reign, and Seattle Kraken—have come together with Seattle Unite to encourage all of us to complete the Census, register to vote, and vote.
|

Three important Actions to take for the Democracy Cup
- Complete the Census by September 30 – it takes less than 10 minutes. www.2020census.gov
- Register to Vote by October 26 – it also takes less than 10 minutes. www.votewa.gov
- Vote by November 3 at the latest. You can vote as early as October 16.

First up – the U.S. Census
A projected $1.5 trillion of federal funds will be allocated to communities based on population. An accurate count impacts vital programs and services such as:
- School lunch programs for your local schools.
- Buses, and public transportation in your community.
- Local healthcare needs like hospitals and emergency services.
- Senior and youth programs in your neighborhood.
An accurate Census count could also mean additional representation in Congress, thus more political power.
So, let’s fill out the Census by Sept. 30. We have the power. Let’s use it.

Our bi-monthly Roundtable for Ethnic Community Leaders
Join Julianna Ross of Sand Point Arts & Cultural Exchange (SPACE) for a virtual tour of Building 138 (the Gatehouse) at Magnuson Park where SPACE 101.1 FM is located and where possible rental spaces may serve your space needs. SPACE 101.1 invites your broadcast ideas. We’ll invite ethnic radio hosts from other networks to join the discussion. Magnuson Park is a multi-ethnic community representing many languages, including Amharic, Tigrinya, Vietnamese, Nuer, Cambodian, Somali, and Spanish.

| Beirut in Crisis
Lebanon has been hit with multiple crises—a massive explosion in Beirut on top of economic despair and COVID-19. EHC’s 2020 “Spirit of Liberty” award recipient, Rita Zawaideh is leading relief efforts through the Salaam Cultural Museum, founded by Rita. They are using their long-established lifelines to the Middle East to bring aid to Lebanon as soon as possible.

When you moved to the Northwest you became part of its history. We want to help you record your experiences, write your local history, and lead you to resources. We offer tools, techniques and resources for keeping records, caring for personal, family and community papers, organizing photos and audio/visual collections, book and other collections; what to save and what to do with materials that you don’t want to keep. This is a sampling of what is included in the expanded “We Are History Keepers” workshops created by the Ethnic Heritage Council of the Pacific Northwest with the University of Washington Libraries.
